This book explains how geology has controlled the landscapes we see today in the National Parks and other reserves of Central Queensland. It groups parks with a similar history, and describes the origins and landscapes of each. It tells of places where you can see the rocks and landscapes along roads and walking tracks. All the main parks, and some interesting smaller ones, from Bundaberg to Proserpine and inland to Central highlands are covered. It follows from a previous volume of parks of Southern Queensland published in 2004.

Warwick Willmott is a geologist who has worked with the geological survey of Queensland in a variety of fields. he likes to bring geology to the public, and has written other Rocks and Landscapes booklets, given talks and guided public excursions.
