This volume has been prepared to present the findings of Stage 2 of the Pandora excavations conducted between 1996 and 2000 under the auspices of the Queensland Museum (QM) and largely funded by The Pandora Foundation. It builds on the work published in 2000 in Volume 2(1) of the Memoirs of the Queensland Museum.
Pandora Project Stage 2: four more seasons of excavation at the Pandora historic shipwreck is a significant volume in the Memoirs of the Queensland Museum - Culture series. This volume has been prepared to present the findings of Stage 2 of the Pandora excavations conducted between 1996 and 2000 under the auspices of the Queensland Museum (QM) and largely funded by The Pandora Foundation. It builds on the work published in 2000 in Volume 2(1) of the Memoirs of the Queensland Museum. Included in the volume are: an examination of the contextual history of the Pandora, details about the people on board, a comprehensive extract of the Logbook, detailed reports of four seasons of fieldwork, the outcomes of excavation, preliminary analysis of artefact deposition and a range of appendices relating to primary sources about the voyage, including contemporary newspaper reports. Artefacts are visually represented by over 450 images. The production of this volume contains recent research showcasing the Pandora collection - part of Queensland Museum’s maritime archaeology collection housed and exhibited at the Museum of Tropical Queensland.
