On Wednesday the 2nd of February, 2011, Cyclone Yasi carved a path of devastation through North Australia's beautiful coastline. This book is an inspiring compilation of personal stories, journal entries, poems, quotes, photos, and drawings from contributors of all ages as they reflect on the impact Yasi had on their lives – laughter as well as pain – fear as well as courage. We hear from the people who stayed to see it through; from those who heeded the dire warnings and attempted to escape; from friends and family who sat in apprehension through the night texting their loved ones with updates, and from the many wonderful people working in the support services. Their stories touch the human spirit. They show how strong we can be when asked to deal with pain and loss, disaster and devastation. And how we can overcome our personal fears and discover our humanity in banding together against adversity."

Awesome read! Review by Sneds
I first read The True Spirit of Cyclone Yasi about a year ago. I was in Townsville during the cyclone and experienced it first hand. Reading the experiences brought it all back, especially those of people in harder hit area. The selection of contributors is excellent as it gives a broad view of the events and how people coped with the storm, and the clean up work afterward. The photos in the book give a fantastic look at our area after the cyclone had passed, and show the true determination and community spirit that got our region through the cyclone and its aftermath. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for a gift for that hard to buy for person. (Posted on 29/11/2013)
Eyeopener into what it's like to go through a Cyclone Review by VickieO
A great book on the stories of real life people who went through the biggest cyclone Australia has seen. In the stories you feel like you are there, I have been through a few big cyclones but nothing like that and pray I never have to. They were truly brave to stay. The photos are great they tell the story, its like being there but from the safety of your own home. Well worth the read. Loved it :) (Posted on 29/11/2013)
